MLW Summer of the Beasts Returns to NYC

Major League Wrestling returns to the Melrose Ballroom in New York City this Thursday on August 29, 2024.

MLW will have the best matchups and best wrestling, and I’ll be covering the whole event on August 29th as media press!

Here’s what happening:

We are at the quarter finals of the Opera Cup.

The Opera Cup, dating back to the 1880s, stands as the longest-running tournament in professional wrestling. Originally hosted in opera houses across the United States, the tournament has a rich history of international competition, with past winners hailing from Poland, Great Britain, Germany, France, and Canada. Remarkably, no Mexican wrestler has ever won the prestigious cup.

KENTA vs Akira

The Opera Cup quarterfinals promise to deliver unforgettable matches, and the showdown between KENTA and AKIRA is no exception.

Both wrestlers secured their spots in the quarterfinals with impressive victories: KENTA triumphed over Bobby Fish this past Friday, while AKIRA emerged victorious against Ikuro Kwon last month in Atlanta.

Mistico vs Atlantis Jr

An electrifying quarterfinal match is set for the historic 2024 Opera Cup, as lucha libre icon Místico faces off against the emerging Atlantis Jr. in New York City. This high-stakes showdown, which could draw a crowd of 18,000 in Mexico's Arena Mexico, will now take center stage in the heart of New York.

Both luchadores have earned their spots in the quarterfinals after thrilling victories in the opening round. Místico, who famously defeated his rival and cousin Magnus this past Saturday at MLW’s Never Say Never event (watch), continues his quest for glory. On the other side, Atlantis Jr. emerged victorious against the formidable Okumura at Blood & Thunder, setting the stage for this epic encounter.

Alex Kane vs Bad Dude Tito

Alex Kane and Bad Dude Tito Escondido face off in a thrilling Opera Cup quarterfinal match on August 29 at the Melrose Ballroom in New York City. This showdown pits two of the league's top grapplers against each other with their sights set on advancing in the historic tournament.

Both Kane and Tito earned their spots in the quarterfinals with decisive victories at MLW’s Never Say Never event over the weekend. Kane, a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion and MLW National Openweight Champion, showcased his prowess by defeating his friend Mr. Thomas. Meanwhile, Tito secured his advancement by pinning the formidable Danny Jones, of the United Kingdom.

Paul London returns to MLW!

For the first time since May 2003 Paul London will step foot in an MLW ring next Thursday, August 29th live from New York City’s Melrose Ballroom.

"The Intrepid Traveler" Paul London will journey to MLW for a highly anticipated showdown against rising star BRG.

Few in the sport of professional wrestling embody the integrity, passion, and artistry of Paul London. Hailing from Austin, TX, London is a zen master of the squared circle, known for his incredible aerial abilities that have left fans in awe for years. London is the master of the 450 splash and jaw-dropping London Star Press—moves that have cemented his legacy as one of the most fluid and thrilling fighters in the game.
