We all knew this day will come.
The following press release is from World Wrestling Entertainment
STAMFORD, Conn., July 22, 2022 – Vince McMahon today released the following statement:
As I approach 77 years old, I feel it’s time for me to retire as Chairman and CEO of WWE. Throughout the years, it’s been a privilege to help WWE bring you joy, inspire you, thrill you, surprise you, and always entertain you. I would like to thank my family for mightily contributing to our success, and I would also like to thank all of our past and present Superstars and employees for their dedication and passion for our brand. Most importantly, I would like to thank our fans for allowing us into your homes every week and being your choice of entertainment. I hold the deepest appreciation and admiration for our generations of fans all over the world who have liked, currently like, and sometimes even love our form of Sports Entertainment.
Our global audience can take comfort in knowing WWE will continue to entertain you with the same fervor, dedication, and passion as always. I am extremely confident in the continued success of WWE, and I leave our company in the capable hands of an extraordinary group of Superstars, employees, and executives – in particular, both Chairwoman and Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and Co-CEO Nick Khan. As the majority shareholder, I will continue to support WWE in any way I can. My personal thanks to our community and business partners, shareholders, and Board of Directors for their guidance and support through the years. Then. Now. Forever. Together.

I used to work for WWE. My only memory of Vince McMahon will be this: We all got blast emails from Vince and Stephanie McMahon reminding all the workers about events during the month.
Also, Vince McMahon is stepping down from creative completely! WWE is left to Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan.
I grew up watching WWF/E wrestling. I was obsessed with the Wolfpack NWO lol - especially Kevin Nash and his powerbomb that was literally so good it was made illegal but he of course did it anyways.
My first screenname online was wolfpacknw because wolfpacknwo was taken.
Also now that I'm able to see all of it from a distance, my obsession with wrestling also dovetailed with my love of the early internet - there was SO MUCH wrestling content including all those like cosplay leagues where you would join and come up with your own wrestler and then the commissioner would write up reports about who won what matches. I even was the commissioner of one league.
I have lots of memories of playing all the video games too, and Shawn Michaels and Owen Hart + Bret Hart, Rey Mysterio Jr, the hell in the cell with undertaker and mankind, the fact that mankind was also dude love and cactus jack lol, i mean there's SO MUCH that I remember hahaha
I don't care what they say about Vince. He will always remain an icon in the business and the reason so many wrestlers enjoy the success they do today.
