I’m nervous about today, September 17, 2022 as I travel to New Jersey by myself and hopefully I don’t get lost getting there. Sure, I have Google Maps, but I feel better riding with someone.
Let me breathe.
I’ve yet to officially celebrate this milestone in my life.
2018 - World Wrestling Entertainment
2022 - Goddesses of War Wrestling
I can’t find the words to express how excited and scared I am about this opportunity. I’m excited to expand my skills. I’m excited to continue to work in wrestling and hope one day I can have wrestling give me a comfortable life. I will be covering all the women’s wrestling for this promotion. Goddesses of War Wrestling is an all-women’s promotion.
The content will increase with women interviews, write ups, and more. There will be a full write up delivered to your inboxes on Tuesday, so we know what to expect.
Every Thursday, Substack does Writer Office Hours. This is where us writers can voice our concerns, questions, and create a conversation via a thread. This week, a member asked if Substack could introduce an option for a one-time payment for our readers. The conversation blew up. I defended this idea.
I see all my readers as family. We’re a community. We’re here to shine.
As you know, I have paid subscriptions on, and I changed the prices.
$5 monthly
$65 yearly
$100 Founding Member: This yearly plan allows your most loyal readers to subscribe at any amount higher than the regular plans.
This type of membership structure is good but at the same time not helpful for smaller publications. Larger publications can afford to have their readership turn into subscribers. So, while I love this type of membership structure, I understand this isn’t the best for everyone. And now that school has started for many parents and even college students, I’m offering another option.
From now on, all of my posts will have a one-time payment option in addition to the Subscribe Now button just in case that suits your hard-earned money. I will be using PayPal for the one-time payment option. It will say: Pay What You Want so it won’t be scary or a turn off.
I know I won’t get rich overnight. I know everyone is struggling. If you can’t help in a money way, please like and comment on the post, or share the post on your social media platforms of choice so we can get more visibility and some new readers.
If you do help, the money will be used for wrestling travel funding. Keep in mind that I 100% create wrestling content to keep this newsletter alive with a 4-day content drop and now thinking of leaving the weekend open. I’m always going to improve the newsletter to its absolute best.
It’s only me working on this whole thing. It’s only me producing the interviews, the podcast episodes, the write-ups, and soon to be adding more content. I’m trying to find new ways to bring new eyes to the newsletter. Lately, I’ve been hanging out in Twitter Spaces. Talking and networking and celebrating my peers all while putting my product over. I’m also livestreaming over on Twitch and now found a new alternative to YouTube called Utreon that’ll talk more in a later post. I’m trying to expand to get my name out there. It’s out there. I’m recognized. But I’m not stopping.
The goal on this journey is to sign with New Japan Pro Wrestling. The goal is to work New Japan Pro Wrestling when they visit NYC in October. The goal is to have enough funds to visit the 2300 Arena (ECW homebase) in Philly as Major League Wrestling press in October. The goal is to cover pro wrestling here in the Bronx, NY in November.
The goal is to become undeniable as a writer, podcaster, live streamer, content creator and team player.
I create content because I love it. I love teaching about wrestling. And if my content ever resonated with you, let me know. Let me know if you’ve learned something new about wrestling. Something new about New Japan Pro Wrestling. Are you excited for stories to continue. (I need to make an episode about story progression with our favorite characters.)
I can add some WWE commentary. AEW just needs to get their act together for me to continue to talk about them.
So, yes. I will be adding a custom button to all my posts going forward with the option to donate a one-time payment of your choice amount. It’s encouraged; not obligated or forced. It’s there as an option just like the Subscribe Now button.
The reason for this addition to my work is because of the time, effort, and research it takes to create the content. They say to give away your best work away for free and that might turn your readers into paying subscribers. They also say to have your readers try before they buy.
The planning takes time. The right content to drop during the 4 days to make it breathable is choice on my end. The creation of graphics take time with my limited skills. The creation of podcasting and everything else takes time. I’m here to give you high quality content even if I upload my livestreams from twitch. I don’t like quantity over quality. I feel that quality gets better results.
Again, everything is encouraged; nothing is obligated, but at the same time, this is everything I do behind the scenes to thrive in the wrestling world. I often ask why fans pay SRS and Uncle Dave $5-13 a month for foolishness like the whole wrestling news of the AEW backstage brawl while original content creators bust their ass to create fun things in kayfabe to continue helping the viewer escape for a little longer out of their dreaded realities?
Content creators aim - or at least should aim - to put smiles on the viewers, readers, community, family members face. If you aren’t smiling or laughing or having a good time, ask for a refund.
Look out for the new custom button.
If any of this resonated with you and you have the means to:
A look ahead and in the future:
Monday, September 19th:
This new interview with Amanda Monroe drops on Monday. Everyone gets to listen to it at 9:30am while the rest of the world listens and watches it at 10am. Everyone here has early access.
Amanda Monroe has dual wrestling roles. She’s a referee and a manager. She manages De’Lorian The Time Traveler. She was trained by WWE’s Eugene.
It was super cool to have this interview on Twitter Spaces! I want to do more on twitter spaces when it comes to interviews.
Did you know I have a new section on the newsletter called: A Chit Chat Series? This is where all the interviews will go! Free and paid. Interviews aren’t easy.
A Chit Chat Series!!!!
I’ve interviewed the following:
Amanda Monore | Shotgun Adams | Jarett Diaz Bodega Boy | Clark Connors | Aaron Henare
I want to write mini stories - fictional stories. Novels and standalone chapters.
A cyberpunk-esque story.
That wrestling novel I keep thinking and talking about.
This is an old book cover. The premise is going to get redone.
That’s everything. Thanks for reading. Appreciate everyone. Again, this is our conversation.
I was super nervous writing all this and explaining why I’m adding the extra button and what the funds will be used for if you choose to give a one-time payment to a post that resonates with you.
I always want to be transparent and open with my work and content. I also value being honest with you guys. Everyone was willingly signed up to my newsletter therefore I follow my own rules of being transparent and honest.
Thank you.
