March is Women’s History Month, and upon heading into the month will be brand new RAW Women’s Tag Team Champions. Don’t let the above picture fool you.
Lita, a hall of famer and legend has captured tag team gold with Becky Lynch.
Becky Lynch has made many moments during her career too. She became THE MAN during her career. THE MAN for Becky Lynch was a more aggressive approach to her in-ring style, her promos, her wants to become women’s champion during her fued with Charlotte in the summer of 2018. And since then, Becky has fought in many dangerous structures such as The Elimination Chamber. She’s won the Women’s Royal Rumble. Becky and her generation of women are part of the vital Women’s Revolution. The Women’s Revolution originally started with AJ Lee and Paige (now Saraya in AEW).
However, the accolades of Lita aren’t short either. Lita stood the test of time. Lita was one of the focal points of the Attitude Era and did all that was asked of her. Lita and Trish made history when they main evented a Monday Night RAW in 2004.
At that time women’s wrestling was struggling in World Wrestling Entertainment under Vince McMahon. The women's division was small, had short matches, and was nicknamed “bathroom breaks.”
But that all changed to where women's wrestling is uniquely theirs and is gaining respect on the long road. Back in 2004, during the Attitude Era, the only championships the women could win was the Women’s Championship. The idea of tag team championships wasn’t introduced until recently.
For Lita winning tag team gold is a huge victory in women’s wrestling history pertaining to World Wrestling Entertianment. Other companies were ahead of WWE in terms of more than one championship.
So how did Becky Lynch and Lita become a tag team? Becky, for weeks, has been feuding with Bayley and her team of Io Shirai and Dakota Kai. Collectively they are known as Damage Control.
Damage Control always had the numbers game, but Becky is resilient and fought against all three. Becky had various partners to help her with the numbers game but, in the end, she took on Damage Control without a care because she specifically wanted to fight and embarrass Bayley. After multiple matches against Bayley, with Bayley picking up with the victory, Becky decided to target the RAW Women’s Tag Team Championships. Now enter Lita. Lita helped Becky the week before they challenged for those tag team titles.
In a good tag team match, Lita and Becky came out victorious. Trish Stratus even helped. And they all celebrated with glee.
We are now on the road to WrestleMania! We are 29 days away! WrestleMania 39 goes Hollywood this year for April 1st and April 2nd.
Could we see a rematch for those RAW Women’s Tag Team Titles? I would love to see Trish Stratus hold tag team gold as well.
Who do you think should face Lita and Becky for those tag team titles?
