Sasha Banks left WWE in May of 2022 due to conflicting issues with management. After doing so, she changed her name to Mercedes Mone and claiming the title of CEO. Her biggest dream in the wrestling business was to work in Japan.
January 4, 2023 we saw the debut of Mercedes Mone at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and then challenged Kairi Sane for the IWGP Womens Championship. Mercedes Mone won the IWGP Womens Championship on February 18, 2023 at NJPW Strong Battle in the Valley.
Then Mercedes Mone had her first title defense against AZM and Hazuki in a triple threat match. A good match to which Mercedes retained her IWGP Womens Championship.
Now Mercedes faces Mayu Iwatani on April 23, 2023 at All Star Grand Queendom.
But before we get to April 23 in Japan, Mercedes took to Instagram Stories.
Mercedes captions the picture on the left with: Definitely moving full time to Japan. Mercedes could have a wonderful and full filing career in Japan given that she loves anime and Japanese culture. Japan has a lot more creative outlets to discover new opportunities and hobbies and passions than American creative outlets.
Mercedes then captions the picture on the right with: Time to learn Japanese. Mercedes could benefit from learning another language if she doesn’t know another already. It would be intriguing to hear her speak Japanese and traveling would be easier for her even though she does have a wonderful translator. Learning a language that’s unknown takes dedication and repetition and Mercedes knows all about that.
Twitter users have already accepted that Mercedes Mone may not go back to World Wrestling Entertainment. That her time there is officially done despite her contracting having expired at the beginning of 2023. However, it’s the wrestling business. It’s show business. Never say never. Let’s see how well Mercedes does in Japan now that she has settled upon a full time living and learning the language.
