In Memory of Jay Briscoe
Jamin Pugh, known to everyone as Jay Briscoe, tragically passed away Jan 17 in a car accident.
Reading the official news of Jay Briscoe’s passing from a tweet by Tony Khan on Twitter has me messed up. I’m unfortunately covering it and updating everyone now because for the past two days, his death has hit me hard. It’s like a nightmare you don’t want. (Even writing this is difficult still.)
Jay Briscoe (Jamin Pugh) was driving with his family, his wife and two daughters. Another driver then crossed into the center lane and the two pick-up trucks collided head on. Unfortunately, Jay passed on impact. It is known from the Delaware State Police report that Jay Briscoe wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. His family is in critical condition. as what we currently know.

The whole wrestling world and wrestling mourned this sudden and tragic lost. The Briscoe Brothers, Jay and Mark Briscoe just won the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships during Ring of Honor’s Final Battle pay-per-view on December 16, 2022. That match was well received.
In honor of Jay Briscoe, I started episode one of my new miniseries: Storytime with Marie Shadows, over at TikTok, and talk about my memories and experience meeting both the brothers.
You can listen to the story above. Jay Briscoe had this warmth, light, hope, and safeness about him and I’m glad to experience hugging him and booing him so long ago when Ring of Honor came to NYC for shows. The Briscoes leave a huge legacy in the world of wrestling, specifically, tag team wrestling. They are in the conversation of tag team wrestling and ranking wise in the top three prolific tag team specialist of their generation.
I wish his brother, Mark Briscoe, and every one of the Briscoe households all the love, support, and healing they need. I usually call to action donations for liking a singular post here on Squared Circle Info, but please, if you have anything or want to give anything to help The Briscoes out, I’ll link the OFFICIAL funding page to help with their expenses.
Rest in peace, Jamin Pugh.
